We experiment with different mediums and materials in 7th grade art. We start out the term extending our knowledge of Ancient Egyptian practices by coiling Canopic jars out of clay. These jars were used to hold specific organs during the embalming of the dead. We emulate the ancient practice of drawing Ancient Egyptian symbols on papyrus. We utilize our math skills and draw a one point perspective cityscape. Next, we build on that knowledge and draw a two-point perspective building or city. Using grid drawing methods, we draw half of a picture from a magazine or calendar so that it exactly matches the other half. We play with color theory and paint abstract art. If time permits, we Zendoodle.
