In 8th grade art, we learn about the multi-talented Leonardo da Vinci and how he revolutionized scientific illustration. Then we draw several views of an animal head, and recreate a detailed representation of that head out of clay. Using charcoal, we sketch skulls in a still life study. We learn about visual texture and create our own abstract, textured drawing using pen & ink. Using watercolor, we create a summer landscape in a natural setting. We create patriotic impressions with a pop art flair using the block printing technique. We utilize word art techniques and create a picture with the form of our words. If time permits, we us pointillism to draw an object.
