Art Club is an after school function where students may explore art in many different forms. We use mediums that students may not have the opportunity to fully explore in our elective or exploratory courses. These may include-but are not limited to-chalk pastels, oil pastels, charcoal, acrylic paints, watercolors, India ink, recycled objects, and clay.
We sometimes have guest artists that show us their techniques, and give us an opportunity to play with their craft. In the past, we have had Chris Fisher, a retired high school art teacher, show us how to form glass beads with a glass rod and a torch. Each student was able to make their own glass bead. Maureen Roslanic, another retired high school art teacher, demonstrated how to create smoked bisque ware. Students had the opportunity to smoke an object they had created out of clay.
Art Club is a unique opportunity for students to enhance their artistic side while learning about techniques from different artists and cultures.
